Obtaining U.S. citizenship for children with one American parent

The following are the documents required for obtaining U.S. citizenship at the U.S. Consulate for children with one American parent:

  • Passport of the American parent,  the original and the copy (and a T.Z. if s/he has one.)
  • The Teudat Zehut or the passport of the parent that is not American, original and copy.
  • Israeli Birth Certificate of the child, original and copy.
  • $100 per child.
  • Proof of the American parent’s residence in the United States for 5 years, with at least two of the years from over the age  14.
  • Marriage Certificate, original and copy
  • A form to translate the marriage certificate and the birth certificate.
  • Form DS-2029

Otherwise, make an appointment in Tel Aviv:  TelAvivCRBA@state.gov

The presence of the American parent and children is mandatory.

Documents Required for a Passport:

  • Form DS-11
  • 2 pictures sized 5×5 with a white background
  • $105
  • The presence of both parents and the child for whom the passport is required.
  • Form ss5 for social security number [after receiving citizenship]

Please bring in two copies of every required document.
